The Philippines is one of the countries that have the highest rates of kidney disease in the world. A Filipino student – Ralph Leonardo, who is studying medicine at the University of Santo Tomas, has developed a medicine to help with kidney health.
This medicinal drink has been used in rural areas of the Philippines for decades to treat kidney problems, but this is the first time it will be available in tablet form. It can be prescribed by doctors or taken by patients as needed. This breakthrough could help Filipinos or any other people in the world, who live with chronic kidney disease manage their condition better, prevent them from going into renal failure, and even save lives when dialysis isn’t an option.

If you have any of the following, it could be a sign of kidney problems: First, changes in how much you urinate, feeling tired all the time, weight loss, nausea or vomiting, swelling in your feet, ankles, or legs, and the most common symptom; burning sensation when urinating.
The kidneys filter the blood to remove harmful substances, balance the body’s fluids, and produce hormones that regulate blood pressure and red blood cell production. When the kidneys are not working properly, waste products can build up in your body. This can lead to other health problems such as high blood pressure or diabetes.
